Creation View Two: Two Creations?
Can we really determine the age of the Earth by reading Scripture?
GENESIS 2
These are the generations of the heavens and of
the earth when they were created, in the day that
the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, and
every plant of the field before it was in the earth,
and every herb of the field before it grew: for the
Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth,
and there was not a man to till the ground. But
there went up a mist from the earth, and watered
the whole face of the ground.
Genesis 2:4-6

This is a close and personal witness to the Creation of people, beginning with the detail that there are no cultivated fields or plants. Everything is wild, untouched by humans, as there are no humans. This is not an attempt to present events chronologically, contiguously, but merely presents us a chance to witness God creating, in short, us: man and woman. People.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the
ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7

We are told here that Yahweh takes dust, or clay, and forms this raw matter into a person with a shape, into a shape as if He were looking into a mirror. The shape has nostrils. And Yahweh breathes into the nostrils of the creature. The word breathes is spirit. Yahweh breathes his "breath of life" (neshamah, puff or vital breath, divine inspiration) into the clay sculpture and it is transformed into a soul (nephesh, breathing creature, vitality, a living soul) A soul alive, a breathing, creature, created by God Himself, in His image, in His likeness.
Did God create a god? If so, the Scripture certainly does not even hint at such a thing. God performs the miraculous and transforms a clay sculpture, a pinnochio, into a living boy, an adam, a ruddy, low man.
The Bible tells us, plainly, that we are a soul, not that we have a soul. And there is absolutely nothing divine about this soul. It is of the Earth, made from clay and the breath of God Himself. When we die, we are told that the Breath of God, the spirit, returns to Him, and that there are no thoughts or memories or intellect contained within this breath, this spirit, it is a life force, a living breath, a breath of life. The body returns to dust, and the soul? It is gone. Just as there was no soul when God lifted the dust from the ground (the soul is created only when God breathes His spirit upon the dust, nothing is there, nothing exists until God creates it). God takes something that exists, dust (just as He came to a lifeless ball of dust, one that was void, and His Spirit moved upon the waters, in short Yahweh breathes upon the Earth and makes it a living soul, just as He does with the man, Adam, a low creature made from dust, the soul is not present until the Creation), and breathes upon it, and creates something entirely new, a Soul, a soul named Adam.
God did not take a ball of dust and cram a ball of soul into it, creating a soul ball, as is so often taught by New Age Christianity, and those forms of Christianity that teach tradition of men over Scripture, placing their own man-made traditions above and better than the Bible.
Think about it. People believe that they are real. No, they believe that they are realer than real, that they are more real than "spirit." We are told that God is Spirit. And so man believes that God is not real, that He does not have a body, or hands, or a face, despite the fact that He creates man in His own image. Great teachers teach this, that God is less than real than themselves, whereas the actuality is that we are dust, we are dust animated by the Spirit of God, we are soul. We have no immortal soul, but only the life, the breath of life, the life force that God lends to us, and it is only for a short while.
Now granted, we are promised that one day we will be transformed. The promise is not that we will be transformed when we die, but that on a great day called the Resurrection, we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye, transformed from this glass darkly world into His image, and only then will there be no more death for us that are changed, only then will God call us immortal, without death, living perpetually with Him. Only then will we be real. Right now we are mere shadows of reality, shadows of Him, shadows of real people. Only then will we become real people.
Adam was created perfect. He would not die. He would not live out his life and then expire. He was created perfect with no sin in him. Sin had not entered the world. Adam would live forever in God, as part of God (notice he did not have immortality of himself, but only in God's attention looking into the mirror of life). Adam was not sinful, he did not have the sting of death nor would he naturally suffer the sting of death.
Without sin Adam would naturally live forever in Yahweh's bosom.

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden;
and there he put the man whom he had formed. And
out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every
tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;
the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the
tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went
out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it
was parted, and became into four heads. The name
of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the
whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the
gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the
onyx stone. And the name of the second river is
Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land
of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel:
that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And
the fourth river is Euphrates.
Genesis 2:8-14

We are provided another glimpse of Creation, now in retrospect, again with no particular attempt to lay things out in chronological order. Those that would attempt to tear down Scripture, claim here that it is evidence for  a "Second Creation," this was differing from the "First Creation;" again there is nothing to warrant this wild leap of negative creativity. The Bible often, in very many places, will list the generalization of an event, then later return and provide specifics. The birth of Adam and Eve's children are listed in several places, and the same people who push for "Two Creations" could then claim that Adam and Eve gave birth to their children multiple times. The Two Birth of Seth, and other such nonsense.
God provides a glimpse into Creation, and a special garden He has prepared for His beloved first couple. We are told that every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, again we are told of the original diet, Yahweh's original plan for mankind, a vegan diet of plants, both fruits and vegetables, and grains. Apparently this garden was a place of special, exotic beauty, and a place that required the cultivation and care of a special "employee," or caregiver. And brief mention is paid to both The Tree of Life and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. This is a rich world, both with precious metals, and spiritual significance, and yet it is empty of humanity.
Although we have already been told of the birth of humanity, the Bible loops back on itself when it is first telling of the Garden of Eden, as if mankind had not yet been created. We are presented the fact that God cares about our living conditions, that He has prepared a place for us, that He wants us to be active and delighted and happy.

And the Lord God took the man, and put him into
the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Genesis 2:15

God has prepared a place for Adam. A specific environment to please the human, a complete Paradise, perfect, just as Adam is perfect, and yet perfect Adam is to care for and cultivate this perfect Paradise.
Yahweh places his final creation of Earth into a specifically designed Garden of Eden, a place of delight (and notice, Sabbath is about delight, what better place to celebrate the Sabbath, than in paradise?): Paradise. And why does God place this solitary human (notice, we have already been informed that God created mankind both "male" and "female," and here we have God placing this Adam into the garden; take note, that both male and female reside in this being, not that he is hermaphroditic, or is comprised of two people, but that Adam has been created in the image of God, in His likeness, both male and female, so that both are in man, both are in woman; man needs woman, woman needs man).
This is where legends of "split-aparts" and soul mates originate. One soul. Is a soul lonely? Does a soul yearn for a counterpart, a mate?
Remember, a soul is not "inside" a person, but a soul is that person. Adam is a soul. Eve is a soul. I am a soul. You are a soul. The soul Adam desired the soul Eve.
Also note that Adam is placed in the Garden of Eden, a perfect Paradise, to dress and keep it. What does this mean, to dress and keep? Here is how other translations handle this verse:

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to
tend and watch over it. New Living Translation

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of
Eden to work it and take care of it.  New International Version

Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the
Garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. New American Standard Bible

God took the Man and set him down in the Garden of
Eden to work the ground and keep it in order. The Message

From a tiny passage of Hebrew, the various translators are providing such descriptive action words as tend, work, cultivate, and also watch over it, and take care of it, and keep it, and keep it in order. It is true, Hebrew is this rich, and all these ideas are wrapped up in the first intention presented in Scripture, that man is to be a caretaker of the world, not only the Garden of Eden. But other versions find even more wealth in this small passage of Scripture:

And the Lord God took the man and put him in the
Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. Amplified Bible

And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden
of Eden to do work in it and take care of it. Bible in Basic English

And the Lord God took man, and put him into the
Paradise for pleasure, to dress it, and keep it. Douay-Rheims Bible

Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the
Garden of Eden to farm the land and to take care of it. God's Word

Then the Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden
to cultivate it and guard it. Good News Translation

The Lord God put the man in the garden of Eden to care
for it and work it. New Century Version

Other translations and paraphrases interpret this small verse in slightly different ways,  but all of them with the underlying idea that it is man's responsibility to care for Creation, to guard it, to treasure it, to cultivate it. And remember, this is all in a perfect world. How much more care, guarding, cultivation, vigilance will it all take in a sinful world.
Note, not one of these famous and beloved translations introduce the idea that it is man's job and responsibility to crush and destroy and rape and pillage and greedily rob and mercilessly extinguish God's creation. There is no hint that God provided Creation for mankind to murder and wreck and dissolve and humiliate all for the purpose of man's sloth and envy and covetousness and murderous heart.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every
tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 2:16-17

God provides clear-cut rules that Adam is to obey, Commandments. Well meaning individuals put up billboards that say: "They are not the Ten Suggestions, Love God" and such, and yet it is all a mockery, as these are generally people who claim that God actually did make Ten Suggestions instead of Commandments We are not provided with the details but at some point Yahweh informed Adam of what was right and what was wrong. Adam knew and obeyed the Ten Commandments. Adam was a moral being. Eve was a moral being. When Cain became the first murderer he knew what it was to do wrong. He had been warned about sinning. He knew God's laws. Here God provides the information that every tree of the Garden is for food, but only one tree is denied, that of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is true that Moses annotated the Ten Commandments, but they were first spoken by Yahweh Himself, and then wrote with His own finger.
As Earth existed before Creation, null and empty and void, so did God's Ten Commandments, only pure and unbroken.
In the oral tradition, legends upon legends still exist, to this very day, regarding the eternal nature of God's Law, that it existed before the Creation of Earth, long before there ever was a Moses, and will exist far into eternity, for forever. It is a huge stretch of the imagination that "Love God with all your heart" was only created at Mt. Sinai, or that "Love thy neighbor as thyself" came into being only after the liberation from Egypt. Upon these two laws are fleshed out the Ten Commandments. These laws always existed and always will exist (and note, if no one will ever kill, there is no need for a law that says "thall shall not kill," the but "spirit of the law" exists that one should not kill another one, so that the law does exist even though there is absolutely no need for it).
God lists the consequence of sin: death.
Did Adam fully understand that consequence? We are not told, but I assume he did, that he was created in perfection, and we can fully understand that a mind formed in perfection, communicating directly with God, must function better than mine does today.
There is no intimation that Adam was a big baby. That he was crawling around the grass in Paradise. That he could not understand. That he was a primitive caveman (sorry Geico caveman). Adam was created fully mature and strong, with wisdom already there. He probably did not need how to walk, and begin staggering around the Garden like Frankenstein. He probably did not need to talk, as we humans of today that are born of woman must do. God created Adam fully functional, fully upright, fully wise, fully knowledgeable (and this is certainly difficult for us to understand, as we must experience things before we gain knowledge, we must burn ourselves before we understand that the concept "hot" can be painful).
God declared that if mankind disobeyed the Commandment, he would die. If he did not break the Commandment, he would live, and live and live. He would not die. Note also, the Tree of Life was open to Adam, and Eve, for as long as they were in the Garden of Eden, they had access to and ate from the Tree of Life. Adam understood these things.
If you were told you might eat from the Tree of Life, wouldn't you run over to it and start eating?
In two Chapters of the Bible we have already been presented with the TRUTH about what God created to be food for mankind. To this point no mention has been made of God creating animals to eat. Would you eat your family pet? Sadly, some people probably would, and probably do, and this mere suggestion has made their mouth begin to water. But the Bible has stated more than three times what is the food of Creation, for mankind, man created in God's image. And that is the life of plants. Herb-bearing seed. Fruit of the trees. Produce from the ground.
Has God forgotten to mention to Adam that he should eat the animals to become strong, that He in fact created animals for Adam to eat? No, God has not forgotten, nor does He forget. He has stated herein several times, Adam is to eat plants, plants that were created for Adam to eat. Eat? Plants. Animals? No eat, Adam, care for the animals.

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man
should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Genesis 2:18

God makes a promise, an oath based on His original intention. In Genesis 1:29 Yahweh commands: "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the Earth, and care for it." God has always intended for man to be a couple, man and woman. Soul and Soul Mate (note, both are souls, man and woman). The Bible calls this mate an "help meet." This is the Hebrew neged, a part opposite, specifically a counterpart, or mate; and ezer, help or aid. I think that the Good News Translation captures the heart of this help meet: "a suitable companion to help him." But notice, God does not immediately provide the gift for Adam's provision. It seems God wants to teach Adam the significant of mates, boon companions, soul mates, the counterpart:

And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast
of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them
unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever
Adam called every living creature, that was the name
thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the
fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for
Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
Genesis 2:19-20

The Bible relates that God created all the animals, from the dust of the ground, identically to how He creates Adam. We know that God created the animals first. The Bible is relating that it was God that created the animals, and when He wishes to instruct Adam regarding the soul mate, He then brings each animal to Adam, and Adam is allowed the privilege of naming every creature. Note, I have heard false teachers claim that Adam played a part in creating the animals. But we have already read that the animals were created first, and then Adam, so how in the world could Adam participate in their creation? Obviously, such a "teaching" is not only ignorant, but deceitful, used only to propigate the foul doctrine of demon that people may speak and create, that humans are somehow gods themselves and possess the power to speak and create as God Himself does.
Can you imagine your reflection in the mirror brushing its teeth when you are not there? Can your reflection do any of the things you do when you are not actually looking into a mirror and doing those things? Obviously, your reflection has absolutely no power apart from you. It can do nothing unless you are doing that thing, and it only reflects your action, the very same way the moon, which has no light on its own, reflects back the light of the sun.
God brings the animals He has created, and He watches as Adam names each couple, the male, and the female.
How long do you think it takes to name a creature? Even if Adam were rapid-fire slapping labels on each animal as they scurried past him in an "I Love Lucy" skit, comically slapping down the names, how long would it take to affix a label? It might very well have been years, to our way of counting. We do not know, but it certainly did not happen in an hour, or in a day. With an understanding of the way in which Yahweh works, it could be that God met with Adam every Seventh day, and what a wonderful Sabbath activity for Adam and Yahweh to do togther, considering which name is best for each animal. Are we told this? No, but it is certainly plausible to imagine the naming done in this way, a Sabbath activity of rest and friendship between man and God.
Perhaps the animals displayed their traits and abilities, their personalities, and imagining such an event, something that takes years, it is easy to understand why Adam might feel lonely, and as he names the male and female lions, the male and female crocodiles, the male and female elephants, it works into the neural patterns of his brain that this is God's way, male and female, it is His way with every creature, a male and a female. At this point Adam certainly could not be fruitful and multiply. He was probably provided with the opportunity of observing the animals as they mated.
We can imagine Adam swimming into the waters and observing the animals, providing just the right name. Each pair of birds landing upon his outstretched arm.
People skim through the Bible and somehow arrive at the conclusion that Adam named all the animals on the sixth day of the week. They are not carefully considering each passage.
The Bible has layer upon layer, it is rich in depth, and it constantly laps backward, like the tide, coming up upon the beach, revealing what is just beneath the top layer of sand. Presenting, then later revealing.
Yes, God created man and woman, on the sixth day of the week, in His own image. Eve was in Adam, everything that is woman. Adam was complete in and of himself, and yet he did not have his counterpart with him, but inside of him. This is both a metaphor, a way of speaking, and a mystery, because there is absolutely no way we can understand this, as it does not happen this way today because God created a great self-supporting ecosphere of life perpetuating life, and we can hardly imagine "creation," except in the notion that man comes from woman, and woman comes from man, and man comes from woman. A woman today cannot have a baby unless a man contributes his portion, and a man cannot be born without a woman to provide him entry into the world. This is another example of cycles, cycles inside of us, and cycles outside of us, cycles in the moon, cycles in the sun, and cycles in the solar system, and greater and even less understood are the sure cycles that are out in the full universe, the great ticking clockwork of God Himself.
Birth. Rebirth. Creation. Recreation.
With the simplest understanding, we know that there was time involved in naming all the animals of Earth, all the insects, birds, fish, and everything.
And we are told at the end of Verse 20 that Adam has realized that everything has a mate, but that he does not have a mate. I have come across people who hate Scripture, who scoff at the Bible as if it is a great book of absurd fairytales. And they sneer and salaciously insinuate that God brought the animals to Adam to see if he would mate with any of them, and that even possibly Adam made the attempt with many, but that none worked out to his satisfaction. Along with the demonic doctrine of a "Second Creation," this idea is equally absurd, ridiculous, profane and sacrilegiously mocking.
How old was Adam when Eve was "born?" We do not know, but he was certainly older than an hour, or a day. I doubt that Adam counted time beyond the moment he lived in. He was not at this time planning for harvest, or worrying about protecting himself, or trying to build himself shelter against storms. There was no death, no seasons, no storms, not even any rain. This was perfection, paradise. Paradise. And by the time that Eve comes into being, Adam might be years old, not that he would take notice, other than a growing sense of something akin to desperation in the pit of his belly, as he realizes that even in Paradise he is missing something. Obviously, before sin entered the world, time had a very different meaning. Things did not get old and wear out and die.
If possible, things only became better with age. Adam, created perfect, now grows in perfection. He grows in grace.
His memory is perfect, and grows more perfect. He is not forgetful, aging, his body is not wearing out. Time has no meaning, save for the cycle God has placed in Paradise that every Seventh day, man has an appointment with the Creator, for spiritual rebirth, for rest, for remembering. Adam, with his perfect memory, remembers.
Created perfect, Adam is alone. He yearns. He needs something more to be truly happy, for fulfillment. Looking inside himself, he certainly cannot see that what he requires is there. Only God can see that deeply, because it was God that put that requirement there deep inside Adam's heart, this yearning for a soul mate, a yearning felt even until this day.
God provides the blessing when the need is just right. Often we must pray for something until God's timing has arrived. We do not pray once and stand in faith. But God tells us to pray continuously, to feed that hope in God, to allow God to shape us in our requests. What we pray for on the first day might not exactly be what we pray for on the seventh day, and it is God Himself reaching through our prayers that sculpts us in the direction we go, until the time is right and we ask for as we ought and He might bestow the desires of our heart. It can seem like a long time to us. Prayer is a process.
We don't pray and create something in the "Spirit Realm" and then believe until that thing materializes in the "Physical Realm" (such demonic doctrines are highly touted, however, in New Age Christianity, as absurd as they are evident when printed down in black and white). Perhaps Adam was sad, as he realized that it is God's plan that man not be alone, and despite all his charges, his friends, his companions among the friendly animals, he had no such corresponding counterpart for himself. None of the animals even looked like Adam as a female lion is recognizably connected to a male lion.
Adam longed for the mate of his soul.

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam
and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up
the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the Lord God
had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her
unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my
bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.
Genesis 2:21-23

The first surgery in the first operating room, and the Great Surgeon has no need for surgical gloves. There are no malicious bacteria or bacilia. God reaches into His creation and extracts what He has put there in the first place. Adam has learned his lesson, and has asked God for the desire of his heart, and God reaches very close to Adam's heart in producing Woman, she who is beside man.
God created humans male and female, in His own image, in His own likeness. When God created Adam, Eve was there, waiting to spring forth. And the symbolic metaphor has been around from some time, that God took one of Adam's ribs to create Eve, to signal that Eve is Adam's equal, this may or may not be completely accurate, but it is certainly poetic. Eve, created at the same time as Adam, is certainly Adam's equal. They are flesh of the same flesh, they are blood of the same blood, they are bone of the same bone, a product of the same Creation. Woman means "feminine mortal." Eve is a mortal soul, the same as Adam. Both genders are of God, in God's image. To claim that Adam came from God and that Eve came from Adam might be technically correct, but it is missing the very real Scriptural point that is made definitively in Genesis 1:27: "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
You do not take one verse of Scripture and exclude another. There is a harmony between the Scriptures, and you must read all Scriptures before you can start "making your points." Allow the Scripture to make the points. The same way plantation owners would argue from the Bible that slavery is good, a blessing, from God above, and on and on to the point of killing other people as well as abusing their slaves, many people, perhaps ancestors of those slave owners, wish to point to Scripture and point out that woman should be a slave of man, that woman is a lower form than man, that man is from God and that woman is from man (but the stupidity here is that every man after Adam came from a woman, thus every man that is born after Adam would be a lower form than woman, seeing they emerged from a woman's loins). The point easily discovered in Scripture is that men and women, are equal in gender.
What Scripture tells us is that God took clay and formed Adam. Adam is a creation of God. God then takes a rib from His creation, which matter was recently converted from dust of the ground, and God creates Eve from this rib. Adam and Eve are both created from the dust of the ground, since it is to dust that they (we) return (when women die, they do not return to ribs, but to dust, the same as men).
Adam says: "bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh..." many have attempted to run with this verse and claim that Adam and Eve were created out of bones and flesh, without blood, and then the brilliant teachers attempt to claim that there is a primary difference between "flesh and bone" and "flesh and blood." That whenver the Bible uses the words "flesh and bone" it is referring to sinless, perfect beings, and whenever the Bible stipulates "flesh and blood" it is sinful human beings. The glaring stumbling stone is that if when the Bible says "flesh and bone" it is excluding blood, then whenever it is says "flesh and blood" it is excluding bones. Each are verbal expressions that mean the same thing.
The Bible goes to elaborate lengths to stipulate the truth that "life is in the blood," so if Adam and Eve are alive, they certainly contained blood. Blood coursed through their bodies. Genesis 2:7 designates Adam as a living soul, thus Adam has blood running in his veins, as does Eve.
Generally when the Bible refers to "flesh and blood" it is discussing actual things, or rules or rituals, or people, plain and simple. When the Bible refers to "flesh and bone" it is usually speaking of greater things, with greater meanings, so "flesh and bone" is more a poetic figure of speech. Adam is declaring: "This woman IS me. We are one."
Incidentally, this was the first marriage, and almost all marriages point back to this grand event. Grand event? How many caterers do you think were involved in this wedding? Which church did they hold the event in, and which denomation do you think God stipulated? How many groomsmen? How many bridesmaids? Was the pastor a female or a male, or would it have been okay to have the wedding on the Sabbath, or on Sunday?
The fact is, we are not told of any ceremony, or ritual, or fanfare, or grotesque display of greed and vanity. It is pretty clear that Adam was not wearing a tuxedo, and Eve was not dressed up like a white volcano just prior to eruption. As Scripture is quick to inform us, Adam and Eve were naked. I doubt a wedding ring was in evidence. I doubt God asked if anyone had any objection to the union. I doubt that a chimpanzee was the ring bearer and a spider monkey the flower girl.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24

God speaks this. That a man will leave his parents, and will become one with his wife, and they shall be one flesh. Unity. So when a man marries, he does not broaden his parents' family, but begins a new core branch, a new family, his own family. Husband and wife are one. Man and woman. This is where marriage originates, the whole concept. One flesh, Biblically, is a means of expressing sexual intercourse, which appears to be the "marriage ceremony" in the Bible. Pefect Adam, with perfect red blood coursing through his veins, beholds the perfect Eve with the same blood in her veins, and they become ONE. When a man and woman become one they are married (this is the whole reason that adultery is unacceptable, or fornication in general, because in the original ceremony, when a man and woman become ONE, they are married; thus people with loose morals are getting married and then promptly abaondoning their spouse[s] and those in turn are running amuck and creating marriage unions of their own).
God is the Author of Order, not of confusion and chaos. It is God's established rule that one man and one woman will be joined together for life. They will become one.

And they were both naked, the man and his wife,
and were not ashamed.
Genesis 2:25

No this is not Scriptural evidence that Adam and Eve were stupid. Or that they were innocent babies who did not know the dynamics of sexual function, or that there was no distinct difference between male and female.
What it means is that before sin entered the world nakedness was not an issue. Clothing was not an issue, because there was no reason for adornment; thorns did not exist, death did not exist, pain did not exist. There was no sin so guilt did not exist. There were no other humans surrounding them, so why be so coy? Do you think the elephant saw them and covered its eyes with its trunk? Did the chimpanzee wrap a banana peel around its eyes as a blindfold?
Even today, when people are not squished into a city mindset with a hundred people surrounding them at all times, nakedness is hardly an issue.
Now, did Adam and Eve wear a "robe of light?" There is no mention here, although it is certainly fun and entertaining to think about it; however, this again is our modern, sinful mindset, that through culture we think of nudity, "nakedness," as being synonymous with sin. So to posthumously clothe the original couple in a "Robe of Light" so that they would not know they were "nekkid" (oops, I mean naked), is more a revelation as to our own Puritan mental roots. The truth is, there was no sin, and so "being naked" was not a sin.
Now even from ancient times the Jews have pondered on this fact that they "did not know they were naked," and by comparing this to Genesis 3:21 where it is stated that God made them both "coats of skins," that due to sin Adam and Eve were changed. That prior to sin they were spiritual beings; as previously stated, "spiritual" does not mean "less than real," or "less than physical," but that spiritual actually means "more than physical." Spirit equates to reality, whereas "physical" equates to "shadow of reality." So the Jews, in legend, in oral tradition, and in Kabbalah, wondered if Adam and Eve were suddenly become "completely physical," that is to say that now they have lost their spiritual ability, their spiritual reality, and are now nothing more than "skin," so that the "coats of skins" would be Adam's and Eve's actual skin, the literal skin that covers their own bodies. So to be "spiritual" is one and the same thing as "always clothed," that it is impossible to be naked.
This Kabbalistic hypothesis works well with the "robe of light" concept, with both possibly referring to the same reality, one which we obviously cannot understand, let alone verbally express.
So for common understanding, Adam and Eve were not wearing any manufactured clothing, and they were not ashamed of this lack.
Adam and Eve were commanded to go forth and multiply. And yet later interpreters of the Bible, later teachers, later great minds, looking backward from their own sinful state, attempt to put the same prejudices and fears and guilty thoughts upon the original couple. Before sin, God "blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth."
Two healthy people, God's original couple, perfect and without flaw or blemish, it is easy for me to imagine they were perfectly happy to get right to work in satisfying God's commandments. I doubt many people today are as joyous in obeying God's commandments!

GENESIS 3
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of
the field which the Lord God had made. And he said
unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat
of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:1

Believe it or not, it has been a very long-standing tradition for readers of the Bible to read from Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 3:1 and imagine that all of this has happened in approximately 8 days, including the Creation of the world, the naming of the animals, the first marriage, the command to "Be fruitful and multiply!" And the next day the snake comes up to Eve and whispers: "Yo, hey babe! Pssst! Come over here."

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3

In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. From the very beginning the Word was with God. Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. The Word was the source of life,  and this life brought light to people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.
John 1:1-5
Good News Translation

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the cornerstone thereof; when the morningstars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:4-7
