Benjamin Franklin was quoting Lord Halifax with that gem, but then again, that was the point, wasn't it? Much of what Benjamin Franklin did and said was all about taking what was known and improving it, or at least dusting it off (and the dust accumulates fast, let me tell you, ah, hold on, there, excuse me, I just sneezed).
