"The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this:
that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed;
but a thing created is loved before it exists."
- Charles Dickens
Someone I know and love recently said to me: "Words are powerful, I seriously believe it. If I say to the TV remote control, 'I do not wish to see you today!' do you think it is possible that it could hide itself from me?"
Words are extremely powerful. For instance, I can say something careless that hurts your feelings, which in turn can set off a chain reaction wherein many people are hurt. That's powerful. Or I might say something encouraging to you, and in a similar chain reaction it ends up being that many people have been encouraged, helped -- and YES, that is extremely powerful.
However, what this person asked me is not true, not possible, unless it is possible in a merely psychological way.
