WHY the Sabbath? And why do I care what you think about the Sabbath? I mean, what in the world do I get out of it if you never keep the true, Biblical Sabbath, and you always think it is a burden, for the Jews, and not applicable to Christians? And what would it matter to me if you open your eyes to what you have been given, something that is already yours and has always been yours to cherish -- what's in it for me?
Probably the same kind of feeling you'd get when you hear another Christian taking the Lord's name in vain, and thinking it's great (the "Christian" thinks it's great, taking the Lord's name in vain, not you!). You'd probably want to point out to them that God already said the "right-and-wrong" about it, and that we should follow what God wants. That we don't have to "search our spirit" about the appropriateness of using God's name in vain, God has already made it amply clear that we are to take His name seriously, reverently, it is a HOLY name. By the same token, God has already told us His opinion on the Sabbath...
...after creating the world, God blessed the Seventh Day. God says it is His day, and that He has made it a gift to us. Should we not love it more, considering how He feels about the Sabbath? There are actually people claiming to be Christians who claim that God did NOT bless the Seventh Day, and yet, there it is, in Genesis Chapter 2, first thing. God blessed the Seventh Day, and hallowed it, at the completion of creation. Some people might argue that He didn't, or that He blessed it in an airy way, but not for any purpose -- but why when God declares something holy, why second-guess it? Do you believe God declared the Seventh day holy? Or did He say that He actually meant that we should pick our own day, just one in seven, and the day itself doesn't matter? In danger of being redundant, God sticks that blessing right into the heart of His Ten Commandments, reminding us of His creating the world, and then even tacking on the word "REMEMBER." There is more verbage in the heart of the Ten Commandments, in the Fourth Commandment, than about any of the others -- and the Sabbath commandment is planted on the first tablet of the two, the tablet that pertains to the worship of God Himself.
REMEMBER.
People say fuggetaboutit, to employ a modern colloquialism.
What's up with God, anyway? He claims that He gave us His own holy day (which must mean that He had the Sabbath Day even before He made a gift of it to us, so the Sabbath has existed in heaven, for longer than the creation of the world -- the Bible makes it clear, that even after the last trump, throughout all eternity, believers will gather together on the Holy Sabbath of Yahweh, weekly, to worship Him) and Jesus claims that God made a gift of the Sabbath to man -- the Sabbath, like God, is outside of time. It has existed forever, and unchanging, it will exist forever. It existed yesterday, as did Jesus, Who is Lord of the Sabbath, and it exists TODAY, as does Jesus, Yahshua the Messiah, who does not change, and it shall exist tomorrow and forever, unchanging, just as does Jesus.
And God said REMEMBER.
And it, the Sabbath, is OURS. Think about it. Before you were born, before your great grandparents and their old-time religion, God gave the Sabbath as a gift to you. He wants you to enjoy His holy day; MORE, He wants you to DELIGHT in the Sabbath. It is your gift. You already have it. Love it. Enjoy it. Praise God for it! God gave the Sabbath as a gift to Adam and Eve, it is there in Genesis Chapter 2, as God inspired man to write the Bible, the Bible concerns God's relations with mankind, and it is there, check it out for yourself, right at the beginning of Genesis Chapter 2, the first gift God gave to mankind.
The Sabbath has existed longer than ANY tradition of man, any rule or regulation of "dat old-time religion."
One man considers one day special and another considers every day alike, but God has told us, repeatedly, that He considers His Holy Sabbath Day to be special, eternal, for us, His children (think about it, God blessed it, hallowed it, sanctified it, and told us to REMEMBER it).
Can we trust Him? Does God give us good things, or burdens? Should we follow man, who is contrary, who changes his mind, who does what he does not want to do and does not do what he wants to do, or should we trust in God, Who does not change? Who is not contrary? Who does what He says He will do and never does what He does not want to do? God, our Father Yahweh, Creator of the heavens and earth, Who does not change His mind, He knows the end from the beginning! God, Who does not make mistakes?
Who do You trust? Do you trust in the Lord with all your heart? Or do you depend on your own understanding? Do you put the Lord first in everything you do? Is He directing your life?

If thou turn away thy
foot from the Sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure
on My holy day;
and call the
Sabbath a delight,
the holy of the LORD,
honourable; and shalt
honour him, not doing
thine own ways, nor
finding thine own
pleasure, nor speaking
thine own words:
Then shalt thou delight
thyself in the LORD;
and I will cause thee
to ride upon the high
places of the earth,
and feed thee with
the heritage of Jacob
thy father: for the
mouth of the LORD
hath spoken it.
Isaiah 58:13-14

Sabbath Thoughts #2

Will the Sabbath become
an Issue at the End of Days?
If ye then,
being evil,
know how
to give
good gifts
unto your
children,
how much
more shall
your Father
which is in
heaven give
good things
to them that
ask him?
Matthew 7:11

God gives us good gifts, He gave us the Sabbath, do you believe Him? Or is the Sabbath a day of dread, instead?
The Sabbath is our gift from God, the first gift in the Garden of Eden!
Do not err,
my beloved
brethren.
Every good
gift and
every
perfect gift
is from above,
and cometh
down from
the Father
of lights, with
whom is no
variableness,
neither shadow
of turning. Of
His own will
begat he us
with the Word
of Truth, that
we should be
a kind of
firstfruits
of His
creatures.
James 1:16-18

Make no mistake about it, God's Sabbath day, a gift to us, is a perfect gift, from the Father of lights, Who does not change, doesn't even hint at turning or changing!
For the
Son of
man is
Lord
even
of the
Sabbath
day.
Matthew 12:8

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Do you believe it? It is His own holy day, it is the Lord's day, the Seventh Day, blessed by God at the creation of the world!
And He said
unto them,
"The Sabbath
was made
for man, and
not man for
the Sabbath:
Therefore the
Son of man
is Lord also
of the Sabbath."
Mark 2:27-28

This is Jesus speaking about Himself. Do you believe Him? Did He really make His own holy day a gift for all mankind? Or do you prefer the "traditions of the elders?"

The New Covenant:
For this is the
covenant that I
will make with
the house of
Israel after
those days,
saith the Lord;
I will put my
Laws into their
mind, and write
them in their
hearts:
and I will be to
them a God,
and they shall be
to me a people:
Hebrews 8:10

Are you a part of
the New Covenant?
Has God written
His laws, including
the Fourth Commandment,
in your heart? DId
He put His Sabbath
in your mind?

Sweeter than Honey - The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalm 19:7-10
