Some people grow extremely angry if you mention the Sabbath. Generally, these are people who consider themselves Christian, they go to church on Sunday, and they desire a relationship with God. And yet, they rip the Fourth Commandment off God's tablets, a law written by His own finger -- why? Why do so many people hate God's holy day, a day He gave to mankind as a gift, a day that Jesus said He was Lord of, a day blessed by God at the creation of the world?
What is there to be angry about? Nothing. In fact, viewed Biblically, we see a very, very similar occurrence in the Bible, in that the religious leaders of His day grew very, very angry with Jesus when He clarified the Sabbath! They grew angry with Him because He did not uphold their man-made traditions that they had built around the Sabbath day. He showed mankind that the Sabbath is NOT about anger, it's not about to-do and to-don't lists -- it's a day about coming closer to God, a day about allowing God more fully into our lives, a day about honoring God and worshipping Him, a day to think about Him and uncloud our minds from the daily toils and stresses (and remember, this Guy clarifying the Sabbath, is the very same One that wrote it with His own finger upon the first tablet of stone!).
Don't be angry about the Sabbath. God gave it to you, as a gift. It is yours, just like every other persons' on the face of the earth. And God gives GOOD gifts, not gifts to make you sad, bored, angry, bitter -- He wants you to have DELIGHT!
Then there is the other dark side of humanity, the jealous feeling that God might love others more than yourself due to birth. Think about it. Why do you think so many people down through the ages have hated the Jews? The answer is simple, because they themselves were not "born" Jews and thus God loves them less than the Jew . . . isn't that ridiculous? Biblically speaking, no one was ever born Jewish. It was something they "entered into," choosing to accept a relationship with God, choosing to allow Him to shape them and remake them, choosing to obey Him even if they did not understand Him. A true Jew was one in faith, one in spirit, one that kept the spirit of the law rather than pretending to keep the letter of the law all the while breaking it.
The law never saved anyone, it never had that kind of power, if it did, then Jesus wouldn't have had to die. But when we accept His gift, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and God supernaturally leads us to keep His holy laws, they are good, they are wonderful, they are not hard, they are God's will!
And today, if you say the word "Sabbath" people snarl at you. Sophisticated, gentle people, can be transformed into slobbering, slavering werewolves in the twinkling of an eye, because you have said the word "Sabbath." And then they add a word to God's word for His holy day: "Jewish Sabbath," they snarl.
Stop hating the Jews. Stop ripping the Old Testament out of the Bible. Stop refusing the words of Jesus when He said that the Sabbath was given to mankind as a gift, forever. If the Jews have kept the Sabbath faithfully through the ages, then thank them. They have kept God's word vibrant and alive, while Christians, for the most part, trailed out away from the path, following the tradition of man as opposed to the word of God.
If you are aware of the fact that God said "Remember" regarding the Sabbath, then maybe you ought to consider obeying Him. God has given you a good gift, not a burden to make you weary, not an annoyance to irritate you. Praise Him, for giving you good gifts, every good gift come down from the Father of lights. Accept the gift He has given to you, it is free, it is wonderful, and you will find that you actually take DELIGHT in His holy day, and just by doing what it naturally produces in you, experiencing DELIGHT, God promises to give you all the desires of your heart!

Trust in the LORD, and do
good; so shalt thou dwell
in the land, and verily thou
shalt be fed. Delight thyself
also in the LORD; and He
shall give thee the desires
of thine heart. Commit thy
way unto the LORD; trust
also in him; and He shall
bring it to pass. And He
shall bring forth thy
righteousness as the light,
and thy judgment as the
noonday. Rest in the
LORD, and wait patiently
for him: fret not thyself
because of him who
prospereth in his way,
because of the man who
bringeth wicked devices
to pass.
Psalms 37:3-7

Rest in the Lord, Sabbath in the Lord, the Lord's day -- allow yourself to delight in the gift He has given you. Don't trust in people who would take the things of God and make them burdens, or teach you that you do not need to obey your Heavenly Father. That CAN'T come from God, can it? God doesn't say: "Obey me," and then turn around and say: "Forget about it." Maybe you don't fully understand the Sabbath, maybe you don't fully understand the will of God -- but trust in HIm. Don't trust in your own righteousness, because sadly, it's no better than mine. God will bring you into righteousness, if you trust Him, obey Him, walk with Him.
He made it very clear. He said REMEMBER.
Rest in the Lord, put all your trust in Him, even when it doesn't make ready sense.
The Bible does not say to ANGER in the Lord, it says to Rest in the Lord.
God gave His Sabbath to the Jews, yes, and He gave it to His creation, mankind, for all time. Is it the Jew's Sabbath? Yes, in the sense that they are God's people. But it is everyone's Sabbath, if they only open their hearts to receive Yahweh's gifts. The same as salvation, it is a free gift -- you don't work to earn it, you don't pay anyone to buy it, you don't send in your "love seeds" to reap a bountiful harvest...
...no, because it is already yours. Accept it, and believe in it. Accept a wonderful gift that is FREE. There's nothing, absolutely NOTHING hard about this, confusing about it (other than all the jabber the false teachers are babbling, THAT is what confuses the Sabbath issue).
Accept God, and His ways, not the traditions of men, even if those traditions were meant with the very best intentions. God's ways are better, and they are reality, and they are for us regardless of race or nationality or financial status or denomination or height or weight or depth.

Sabbath Thoughts #4

Will the Sabbath become
an Issue in the End Times?

If ye then,
being evil,
know how
to give
good gifts
unto your
children,
how much
more shall
your Father
which is in
heaven give
good things
to them that
ask him?
Matthew 7:11

God gives us good gifts, He gave us the Sabbath, do you believe Him? Or is the Sabbath a day of dread, instead?
The Sabbath is our gift from God, the first gift in the Garden of Eden!
Do not err,
my beloved
brethren.
Every good
gift and
every
perfect gift
is from above,
and cometh
down from
the Father
of lights, with
whom is no
variableness,
neither shadow
of turning. Of
His own will
begat he us
with the Word
of Truth, that
we should be
a kind of
firstfruits
of His
creatures.
James 1:16-18

Make no mistake about it, God's Sabbath day, a gift to us, is a perfect gift, from the Father of lights, Who does not change, doesn't even hint at turning or changing!
The New Covenant:
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after
those days, saith the Lord;
I will put my Laws into their
mind, and write them in their
hearts:
and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Hebrews 8:10

Are you a part of the New Covenant? Has God written His laws, including the Fourth Commandment, in your heart? Did He put His Sabbath in your mind?

Matthew 12:8

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Do you believe it? It is His own holy day, it is the Lord's day, the Seventh Day, blessed by God at the creation of the world!
And He said
unto them,
"The Sabbath
was made
for man, and
not man for
the Sabbath:
Therefore the
Son of man
is Lord also
of the Sabbath."
Mark 2:27-28

This is Jesus speaking about Himself. Do you believe Him? Did He really make His own holy day a gift for all mankind? Or do you prefer the "traditions of the elders?"
